During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. They must use their ingenuity to survive the dangers, and to devise a way to return home. Sequel to '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' . Written by Stewart M. Clamen In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 富翁曾和度（谐音“真糊涂”）吝啬 成性，其子曾伯稼（谐音“真败家” ）热心地方公益，施济贫寒。曾和度 忧虑伯稼因此败坏家业，诱逼他吸食 鸦片，以达到闭门守业的目的。从此 伯稼终日沉溺烟榻，意志消沉，不理 家业。曾和度见此后果，痛心家业难 保，恼恨而死。伯稼妻张氏，屡劝丈 夫戒烟反遭辱骂。不久，伯稼子误将 鸦片当作糖果吞食，中毒死亡。伯稼 之母眼见丈夫去世，孙儿夭亡，悲愤 交加，也一病而殁。曾家店伙卜遥莲 （谐音“不要脸”）和梅志实（谐音 “没知识”）乘伯稼办理丧事，侵吞 大量财物，暗中在外挥霍。几年时间 ，曾家财产已消耗殆尽，而伯稼仍每 日依恋烟毒，不思悔改。张氏因苦劝 无效，饮恨投河自尽。张氏死后，卜 遥莲和梅志实乘机变卖曾家全部产业 ，勾结婢女将伯稼之女真真卖入娼门 ，又骗去伯稼赖以生活的一笔保险金 。从此，伯稼流落街头，拉人力车糊 口。一日，其女真真坐伯稼车出堂差 ，父女相见，百感交集，未及倾诉别 后之情，即被鸨母驱开。伯稼后悔莫 及，饥寒难忍，倒毙于城门之下。
